UCLA Medical Student Ultrasound Workshop

In collaboration with the Geffen School of Medicine and Harbor UCLA, we held the FIRST EVER ultrasound workshop for first year UCLA medical students from November 13-15, 2012. We taught basic echocardiography after the medical students had studied cardiac anatomy for two weeks. Our instructors included EM residents from UCLA/OV-UCLA and Harbor-UCLA, as well as senior medical students from UC Irvine who have benefited from a fully integrated ultrasound medical curriculum. The students could not get enough, many staying over the session to get more "scan time." We will follow this workshop with two in Spring 2013 focusing on abdominal and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Organizers include: Dean Wilkerson, Carl Stevens, Elena Stark, Timothy Jang, Cori Poffenberger, Ali Hussain, and Alan Chiem. Thanks to Matt and Jason of MindRay for providing the ultrasounds.
