We kicked off 2015 with new accolades and equipment. We’re very stoked that our US faculty, Dan Weingrow and Ricky Amii, received the bi-annual departmental faculty teaching awards. Research continues to plug along, with a small EMF grant allowing us to conduct a fluid responsiveness study on septic patients, comparing various US-based methods to a non-invasive cardiac output monitor (NICOM). We also received a new Sonosite X-Porte at UCLA-Ronald Reagan, and are in the works of acquiring an Edge for UCLA-Olive View. This will put our number of portable US machines at 6 (not including two legacy machines at OV)--just enough for the over 250 studies that we perform and QA on a weekly basis between our two sites. We also held a journal club covering pulmonary and medicolegal issues involving US last month. Check out our promotional video: |
