EMN Article on Pediatric Elbow Sonography

Featured in the February 2013 issue of Emergency Medicine News, is a review of Rabiner et al's study on a simple ultrasonographic method of assessing elevation of the posterior fat pad, which is associated with elbow fractures and effusions. This has great promise to detect occult fractures that are missed on the initial x-ray. However, more research needs to be done to support the routine use of ultrasonography in the traumatic pediatric elbow versus plain x-ray. For the full article, please click here.
